I started my journey at CSA in the Study Trip Committee, without fully realizing how much it would shape my university experience. What began as helping organize a trip, quickly turned into something much bigger. I met people who shared the same curiosity and cultural interest, and before I knew it, I felt completely part of the community. Working together on our journey to China was an unforgettable experience. Watching participants bond, explore a new environment, and immerse themselves in Chinese culture made all the effort more than worth it.
That experience made one thing clear to me: I was not ready to leave CSA after just one year. I wanted to contribute on a deeper level, which is why I applied for a Board year. Serving as Commissioner of Internal Affairs showed me a completely different side of the association. I was not just participating anymore, instead I was the environment others get to experience. Being part of the leadership of one of the largest cultural student associations at Erasmus University Rotterdam challenged me in ways I did not expect. It pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, strengthen my communication skills, and handle real responsibilities that required empathy, structure, and decision-making.
Looking back, saying yes to CSA was one of the best decisions I made during my studies. It gave me friendships that will last far beyond university, personal growth I did not anticipate, and memories I would relive without hesitation.
