CSA 23rd board recruitment

COMMISSIONER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS & VICE PRESIDENT

The Commissioner of External Affairs is responsible for managing and expanding CSA’s corporate network. You actively identify and search for new collaboration opportunities for the association, while maintaining strong and sustainable relationships with existing partners. In your role as Vice President, you support the President, co-lead the association, and contribute to strategic decision-making by providing a critical perspective.

Job Description & Responsibilities

As Commissioner of External Affairs, you are responsible for managing and developing CSA’s external network, including both corporate partners and cultural student associations. You focus on building and maintaining long-term, meaningful relationships with existing partners, while actively exploring new collaboration opportunities that align with CSA’s goals. This includes approaching potential partners, expanding CSA’s network through cross-association initiatives, and negotiating sponsorships and partnerships.

You oversee the Career Events Committee and are responsible for the successful organization and execution of CSA’s career-related activities, with a particular focus on the flagship event CSA Career Days. Part of your role is to further develop these events by strengthening CSA’s brand towards both companies and students, and by shaping the long-term vision and direction of the Career Events.

In your role as Vice President, you support the President, co-lead the association, and play an active role in strategic decision-making by providing a critical and well-informed perspective.

My experience

Because I have been part of CSA for a long time, I always felt like I wanted to give something back to the association. In my first year when I joined CSA, I was part of the Career Events Committee. That experience helped me grow a lot and gave me opportunities to learn things I would not have experienced otherwise. It also played a big role in my personal and professional development. Coming into my last year, I thought it would be nice to return that same support to new members. I wanted to help them grow, learn new skills, and experience the same development that I went through when I first joined. Over the years, I have been involved in different parts of CSA, including the Career, Alumni, and Audit committee. Each of these experiences gave me a better understanding of how the association works behind the scenes and motivated me to take on more responsibility within the Board. Serving as Commissioner of External Affairs and Vice President has been an incredibly rewarding experience. During this time I developed many skills that I did not expect to learn beforehand. This ranged from organizational and networking skills to soft skills such as communication, responsibility, leadership, and managing external relationships. What I value most is that this role allowed me to give back to the community. Not only through organizing events and partnerships, but also through the work done behind the scenes to create opportunities for our members. Working closely with my fellow board members, committees, partners, and alumni has also allowed me to meet many inspiring people and build meaningful relationships that I will carry with me beyond CSA.
